The blog you are about to read is the first in a new series where I will be highlighting some awesome things…
Most of which won’t actually be things, because this particular series will be as much for me (to shine the light on the positive things in life, which can sometimes be a struggle-but-a-necessity when living with an annoying combination of depression and anxiety) as it is for you, my favorite reader.
Yes, that’s right, I’m talking to you! 😉
So I’d like to start out by saying…
Holy Swiss Cheese, Batman!!!
It feels like just a few short weeks ago I was amazed to see that the Mixed Media Art Journey group had grown to 400 members, yet now it has broken 1200!
I didn’t even have a chance to do a giveaway for the 1000 mark, so I’ll try to plan one for the 2000 mark. 🙂
With that being said, size really doesn’t matter to me. What makes me really proud is the activity taking place in this group. The beautiful work being shared, the questions asked (and answered), the information discussed… this group has already surpassed everything I’d hoped it would be when I first started it… and that’s all because of the awesome members!
So I want to say thank you for joining, and for your participation. You rock!
In fact, it’s because of the discussions in this group that I discovered this next awesome thing…
The Elegant Writer pen is MAGICAL!!!
Well first, let me back up a moment. I also have to say that Marta Lapkowska is awesome and you need to check out her Youtube channel if you haven’t already.
Warning– you may get lost down a rabbit hole like I did. While I was there, I discovered a magical thing called the Elegant Writer pen. This is an affordable calligraphy pen by Speedball, but the real magic happens when you add water. Suddenly, the black ink turns into somewhat of a watercolor with various shades of purple and blue and green and gray… oh my!
Here is a peek at my first “test run” with the pen over a quick doodle:
And rather than making my own video showing the magic-in-action, I’ll just show you the video that sold me on the pen!
If you’re as excited as I was and must-own-this-pen-immediately, you’ll be thrilled to know that it’s only $5 at Michaels (before you use your coupon) or less than $4 on Amazon!
Go ahead and treat yourself, you deserve it! 🙂
Also, I finally turned 21! (Again.)
Okay, technically I’ve turned 21 more times than I can count on both hands, especially if you count the times I claimed to be 21 before I actually was. My real age is irrelevant, but I did just celebrate another birthday which included a free drink at Starbucks. So that was nice.
I also won a pretty sweet prize on my birthday that I’ll get to in just a moment, but first…
Autumn is Here!
This is one of my top 3 favorite seasons! Dressing up in soft snuggly sweaters, with scarves and matching tall boots, the return of several favorite primetime shows, my little humans are back in school (giving mama a much needed break!), and, of course…
Pumpkin Lattes are back!!!
Okay, pumpkin lattes aren’t for everyone, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. (Unless you think pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza because then your opinion would be wrong.) Personally, I love them though!
But there is another reason I shared this autumn inspired spread, because the leaves were all created using the awesome prize that I won. (On my birthday!)
OMG, check out these new layering stamp sets by Gina Marie designs!!!
I had to make a difficult decision, picking only one of 4 new designs… so I chose the Fall Leaves and will be buying the other 3, which include a Tombstone, Light Bulb, and Military Boots.
What’s really special about these stamps is how each “object” comes with 4 different stamps, each adding more depth and detail to the image. The Fall Leaves set includes 4 stamps for creating autumn leaves and 4 stamps for creating acorns and three stamps with autumn-related “sayings”.
As an added bonus, I discovered that the leaf stamps can also be used to create trees… and that’s pretty awesome all by itself!
Finally… you are awesome for reading and subscribing to this blog. Thank you for your support, and have a blessed journey as you explore and discover your own awesome, favorite things 🙂
