Every month, a new challenge is posted in the Mixed Media Art Journey group, using Purdy Creative Artist Blocks, and it’s so fun to see how differently everyone responds to the same set of prompts!
For March 2018, the challenge is to:
- Create a page
- include ripped, cut, or torn edge
- include a pattern
- use the color Yellow
- add a Word of the Day
- add a pocket
I look forward to seeing what you create with these prompts! See below for a process video of my response, followed by a list of supplies used.
“Remember to Exhale”
I chose Exhale as the word of the day because when living with a combination of depression, anxiety, and stress… sometimes we forget to just BREATHE in a literal and metaphorical sense. To take in the good and to exhale (AKA release or let go of) those negative things that we-tend-to-hold-onto-for-whatever-absurd-reason.
This page is something I actually worked on in bits & pieces, here and there, without a real clear idea of what I wanted it to look like when finished… only how I wanted to create the curved edges & pocket.
In case you don’t want to watch the process video, here is the end result:

Note- the following are all affiliate links which only means that ordering anything using these links will provide a small kick back to support Mixed Media Art Journey… which I truly appreciate.
Most of what I used (scissors, scraps of paper, etc.) are standard and you may already have laying around. The only things of note in this page are linked below.
